I put on braces sometime around 2020, and I noticed that food will always get stuck between the braces and the teeth. This will continue for the entire period of wearing. This water flosser is one of the best at getting the debris out in between the teeth. While there are other better ones, they are fixed and require a permanent electrical plug. This one is meant for travel, and it’s collapsible and it works. Many other portable water flossers are large and difficult to pack. this one packs nicely into a “rectangular box” shape. I have tried smaller ones, but they were rubbish. the water pressure is not enough to remove the debris, or the setup broke apart before and during use.
I am definitely using this for the entire braces period, and I carry this around wherever I go. It uses 2 replaceable AA batteries. One full charge can last me about a week. I floss my teeth after every meal, which is about at least 4 times a day. I use eneloop regular AA rechargeable batteries. they are in white color. You can use alkaline batteries as well. They last longer, although they are not replaceable. When I travel, charging is a hassle so I use the alkaline batteries. but while in singapore, I prefer to rotate the rechargeable batteries.
There is one problem which is that the reservoir cover is prone to dropping out. Even with normal gentle use, it’s easy to accidentally dislodge the cover. and if you cant find it, thats the end of the world for you. You can’t buy another cover, even though you can buy more flossing heads. You will notice that there is an intricate mechanism that holds the cover in place. they barely touch each other, and there is no secure way to adjust it. something has got to give. for this portability, this is as best as it gets. I intend to switch to a regular floss when my braces end when im outside. I still intend to use this while travelling. When at home, I prefer the fixed with more power.
The compartment for the floss head to be kept is very small and tight. I kind of like it because there is no wasted space, I feel this is as small as a portable water flosser can go. The water flosser and reservoir must be completely expanded in order to access the compartment for the floss head. This can be a little unnatural at first. It is fully expanded with you can see the black line exposed.
there is a particular position it must be in. The fatter part will have to go in first into the entrance, and then the reservoir can be retracted. Its not convenient, its flimsy, but worth the portability.
The battery compartment can be hard to access. it looks like a flathead screw. I have metal guitar picks to use to turn this. it looks like it can get easily damaged. again, a small hassle for the portability.
So far I have bought 3 of these already, and they are serving me very well. one was bought from carousel, one was from amazon, and another from Taobao. This item is not available on the local shopee Lazada stores. im guessing this is a china version that never got popular worldwide. I can find it in the china market like JD as well.
You may notice that this item is wet when the pictures were taken. If you put it into your bag directly, it will wet whatever is inside as well. this may cause mold to grow or some funny smell. I like to put it in a plastic bag so that the water will not touch anything inside the bag. If the bag and its contents gets wet, I will need to take out every item and put it in the sun to dry. To reduce the wetness, you can
1. Open the cap and tilt the water flosser in a way that water will flow out.
2. after emptying the reservoir, turn on the water flosser to clear out whatever remaining water is in the system.
You won’t be able to remove everything, but if you don’t try, things are going to get wet.
