Most of the time when you ask this question, you already have an idea in mind, perhaps you have seen someone else doing it before. if this is the case, it usually takes you no more than 20 minutes to film, edit and post up the video.
however, if this was part of a content plan, and you were going to commit to making a post at least twice every week… that’s very different. because chances are, you are out of ideas, and you need to find a way to pop something up, and again and again.
TLDR – it takes us about 2 hours to make a 25 second video.
Here is how a video production process may look like –
- Research on content direction. find similar channels, blogs, videos to study and come up with ideas of the content topic. you could do this in a block of 7-10. any less is not worth the time. any more will usually drain you so much that the quality of work drops. this process for a set of say 10 videos, could take 3-4 hours
- script writing – from the material researched, and the brand direction, script out 10 videos – this is slightly easier than the research part, but it’s also mentally intensive because the content has to be adapted/reduced/added new ideas. this would be another 3-4 hours.
- the script is then handed over to the client for vetting and adjustment. this typically is short and takes less than an hour.
- the script is handed over to the cameraman for filming. the filming typically takes 2 hours for 10 scripts.
- editing – our editing process takes about an hour per video. this would be 10 hours
The total time to produce 10 videos from zero, is about 20 hours.
If you hire someone to do it for you, they can do everything except the filming. so 90% of the time, or 18 hours will be saved per month that you can use to work on your business, or spend time with your family
